A Story of Faith and The Modern Day Miracle

My past two articles have been totally non-political and are about someone very close to me, more so than I think even she realizes. Well, she has given me permission to show you something about her past. I will be sharing something with you that is very precious to her. One of her “pearls”. As such, comments on this article will be highly moderated.

“Jane” is a beautiful woman with red hair, freckles, and gorgeous eyes (yeah, I’ve got it bad). She used be addicted to speed (methamphetamine) for twenty years. Despite her addiction, she was (and still is) always a deeply faithful person and loves God. Her addict friends would be doing criminal activity and she would be reading her bible, devouring it in fact. She was a most unusual addict, but an addict nevertheless.

Her and I have had many discussions of her past and addiction, and her best description is “Hell”. She explained that no matter how hard you want to, you cannot get off of strong drugs by yourself, and that being around other addicts doesn’t help either. She told me of how the drugs can make you hear and see things, things that are very real. Voices and apparitions that tell you how horrible you are, how nobody loves you, how you should just give up. She explained that after a while of being on drugs these things start. They even try to trick you into hurting those you love and successfully take away your freedom to choose. She said, she knows what Hell is like. Her frank telling of her past has given me an entirely new perspective of those addicted to drugs. She doesn’t blame anyone but herself for getting on them in the first place. She knows it was her wrong choices that got her in that trouble. However, she explained that once you make those choices, it is very difficult to get yourself out. She explained that you may have the desire and willingness to give up drugs, but you will not succeed on your own, and you have to ask for help and let people help you.

Jane has had many real miracles happen in her life that let her know God loves her and wanted to help her. She would frequently be on her knees crying, begging God to help her. One such miracle was a day she had been crying so much that her eyes had swollen shut and she basically ran out of tears. She wanted to be off the drugs so bad, but she just couldn’t do it on her own. When she was in the depths of despair, her radio just turned itself on and a song started to play. It was James Taylor‘s “You’ve Got a Friend“. She knew It was her Heavenly Father comforting her and telling her he’s there. All she needs to do is call him (pray). This alone cheered her up and strengthened her resolve. This isn’t the only time this type of thing happened to her. Another time it was The Police’s “Every Breath You Take“.

You’ve Got a Friend, by James Taylor

That's Why I'm Here

James Taylor

When you’re down and troubled and you need a helping hand
and nothing, whoa, nothing is going right.
Close your eyes and think of me and soon I will be there
to brighten up even your darkest nights.

You just call out my name, and you know where ever I am
I’ll come running to see you again.
Winter, spring, summer, or fall, all you have to do is call and I’ll be there, yeah, yeah,
you’ve got a friend.

If the sky above you should turn dark and full of clouds
and that old north wind should begin to blow,
keep your head together and call my name out loud.
Soon I will be knocking upon your door.

You just call out my name, and you know where ever I am
I’ll come running to see you again.
Winter, spring, summer, or fall, all you have to do is call and I’ll be there.

Hey, ain’t it good to know that you’ve got a friend? People can be so cold.
They’ll hurt you and desert you. Well, they’ll take your soul if you let them,
oh yeah, but don’t you let them.

You just call out my name, and you know where ever I am
I’ll come running to see you again.
Winter, spring, summer, or fall, all you have to do is call, Lord, I’ll be there, yeah, yeah,
you’ve got a friend. You’ve got a friend.
Ain’t it good to know you’ve got a friend. Ain’t it good to know you’ve got a friend.
Oh, yeah, yeah, you’ve got a friend.

She has asked me to post this video I made for her to tell in brief words how she became sober and how miraculous it was, as well as show the dramatic change in her. It is the story of a true miracle. The immediate back history to this story is Jane was taking so much drugs that they no longer had the euphoric effects they once had, and thus she’d be taking more and more of them to get the high and to satisfy the physical addiction too. This affected her health drastically, as she grew a giant goiter on her neck, she looked like death (yeah, worse than the police photos of addicts you see), and woke up one morning with GREEN fluid oozing from her that smelled awful. Her body was finally giving up and she knew she’d die soon if she didn’t get help. She kept hearing God whisper to her “get off the drugs and I will heal you.” The problem was getting off the drugs first.

Now, here’s the video:

When Jane was lifted on her feet (literally LIFTED on her feet) she was immediately sober and cured of her addiction. No withdrawals, no rehab, nothing. God cured her of her addiction right then and there after 20 years of hell, she was now free. She has no desire to return to the hell of addiction and has no urges or even the slightest temptation or desire to take drugs. In fact, the very idea disgusts her. She wants to help addicts now and help law enforcement with detecting and pointing out illegal drug activity. Her 20 years of experience has given her a unique perspective on the insides of drug trafficking and related criminal behavior. She can spot an addict out of a crowd. In fact, she can tell you what they are addicted to. She can also spot someone on the street and tell you if he or she is selling or buying drugs, and where they usually keep their stash.

What happened after her sobriety? Her goiter disappeared. Her appearance improved so much that she looks incredibly beautiful now, nothing like the shell of a human she was when addicted. She has an incredibly happy and bubbly personality full of love and life. She inspires me to be a better person, knowing if she can do it, despite the hell of drug addiction, I can overcome much less debilitating weaknesses.

Jane is an incredible woman and I am greatly privileged to have her as a friend. Right now, being friends is just fine with me. Sure. there’s that hope that maybe it could be more some day, but regardless, I love her and she is my best friend. I’m like Pavlov’s dog, every time my text message alert goes off on my phone, I am instantly smiling and anxious to read her message. She always puts me in a great mood.

A Message From “Jane”

My Best Friend "Jane"

“I am very humbled to be a part of Fathers way of letting his children know how much he loves us all! I believe/know that we can be as close to father as we choose to be. That it is Faith along with works that create miracles. We pray with all of our energy to Father and we do all that we can in our power to fulfill that prayer. He will make up for what we cannot do ourselves. Its all about the Effort. We must show Father our effort, and he will help with the rest if we sincerely try.

I know that when we are Obedient he is bound..what an awesome promise he has given us. It is us that create the roads we walk, but right or wrong, always include father, and ask him for direction and the strength to achieve going on the right road. Of course he will help you, but we must ask.

I would like for you to see my video clipping with my pictures. I feel “ok” revealing to anyone interested in my story what I look like …then and now. For It is true… the power of God is within us…And I can’t deny who I was or am now…and Yahoo! I am a sober girly! I love life! and haven’t wiped this smile off my face ever since I prayed asking Father to give me the strength to be sober. I have been sober ever since that prayer…but of course the miracle comes after “All that you can do”

Life is awesome!

I must bear my testimony that I know that The Church of Jesus Christ and latter-day saints is Heavenly fathers true church. I am LDS (wasn’t always) I also know this….it doesn’t matter what faith you are, there is one God, he lives…he loves us all..and miracles will happen to all who not just believe in him, but include him in their lives, pray to him and listen to his counsel… through Jesus Christ …amen.

Ya! Life is awesome sober!”
